Florida city council to propose glyphosate ordinance

City officials in Miami Beach, Florida, unexpectedly scheduled discussion on a proposed ordinance to “prohibit contractors from using Roundup and other chemicals labeled as carcinogens in public spaces.” However, the discussion was postponed as a result of industry outreach to the city to address claims that contractor use of glyphosate (the main ingredient in Roundup) does not serve any public benefit. Officials in Miami Beach plan to take the issue up during their March City Council meeting. The delay will allow time for NALP, our members, and industry allies to better prepare for the hearing.
